Ceremonial Flight Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)

Friday, October 27, 2023, the President Director of PT LAPI ITB accompanied Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah, Ph.D. as the Rector of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) to attend the Ceremonial Flight using Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) / Bioavtur the first commercial flight in Indonesia (Garuda B737-800).

The activity is the result of collaboration between the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) ITB represented by Mr. Dr. Ir. Rais Zain, M.Eng. and Mr. Dr. Eng. Ir. Iman Kartolaksono Reksowardojo and a team in collaboration with various industrial and government partners including PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, PT GMF AeroAsia Tbk, Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDPKS), Indonesian Biofuel Producers Association (APROBI), Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia, Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises of the Republic of Indonesia, etc.

The bioavtur is J2.4 produced from palm kernel oil at the Cilacap Refinery by PT Pertamina and the ITB Catalysis Engineering Center.

The Ceremonial Flight agenda was closed with a round-trip flight from Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang to Adi Soemarmo International Airport, Solo.
